Shells heritage is rooted in a philosophy of delivering great fresh seafood, in portions to satisfy any appetite, at dockside prices. Swiss gourmet chef John Christen opened in 1985 the first restaurant, an authentic no frills named Shells. He served delicious creamy clam chowder, huge portions of fresh seafood pastas, grilled fish, and a variety of seafood baskets for unbelievably low prices.  It was an instant hit and has gone on to become one of Florida’s genuine signature dining experiences.

Our founder's original passion for fresh, high-quality ingredients still drives us. All of our sauces are made fresh daily, fresh fish is delivered to our restaurants every day, all of our fried items are hand-breaded to order and live Maine lobsters are flown in regularly . Our secret recipe, award-winning clam chowder is the best you'll ever have. We use only the freshest seafood, garden-ripe vegetables, 100% pure olive oil, fresh garlic and rich cream.
